Matthew ZanFagna
is a New York-bred, Los Angeles-based theatre director. His background in art and design bring frenetic, expressive, and saturated visuals to his collaborations. His work has been deemed "bonkers" by Rolling Stone.
From readings to full-scale productions, Matthew has helped stage new work at every level of the developmental process. He's been mentored by theatre directors John Cameron Mitchell and Michael Arden as well as film-director Stephen Winter, and is passionate about learning and teaching within the medium. He thrives on a limited timeline and will use all available resources to produce deliberate, fantastical choices. Enthusiasm within the creative process is everything.
In addition to directing, Matthew is a props artisan, and has fabricated for numerous productions and theatres including Pasadena Playhouse, Boston Court, and Theatre for a New Audience, where he served as Head Properties from 2016-2020.
